Processing of personal data

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Rules on how companies are allowed to collect and handle personal data are regulated by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as of 25 May 2018, and this regulation is applicable in all EU member states The purpose of the new law is to promote free competition and make it easier for companies to expand within the EU by making the rules on how personal data can be collected and processed consistent throughout the entire EU. Individuals’ right to protection of their own personal data is one important object of the General Data Protection Regulation. The new law makes more stringent demands of companies with regard to how personal data may be collected and used. Not everything is new, of course: rules were already in place with regard to how personal data can be collected and used, but the requirements with regard to how personal data may be used now also include what is known as unstructured information.

Personal data

This policy describes what type of information we collect and how we use and protect this information. This policy relates to this website only, not to any other sites linked to this website. When you access the website, you consent to Swedish law being applicable with regard to all issues that may arise concerning the use and content of this website.

What personal data is collected?

We use cookies (our own cookies and third party cookies) or similar to collect other information when you visit our website – see http://smartson.co.uk/cookies/.

How we use your personal data

We will use personal data that you submit to us on this website for the purpose for which the data was submitted, e.g. for participation in surveys or participation as a tester, so that you can receive and test products and services, or in order to respond to any queries from you. Payment data linked with campaigns where you purchase a product will be collected so that the purchase can be completed. We may also use the data for purposes specified on the website where you enter your personal data.

We may use the data you submit (including postal address, email address, telephone number) to contact you.

We do not share personal data that we collect with our customers or any other third party unless the activity requires this.

Smartson may work in cooperation with third party suppliers in order to perform tasks on behalf of Smartson, e.g. in order to provide IT services and administer and analyse information. This data will be processed in accordance with our instructions, and these suppliers have no right to use your personal data for purposes other than those necessary to allow you to use our service.

Please note that if we are requested to submit your personal data by an authority and in accordance with the law, or by virtue of a search warrant, injunction or court order, we will do so.

Purpose of and support for processing

We may process your personal data pursuant to a balance of interests. This is applicable to matters such as our interest in providing you with a service, marketing our products and services and improving and developing our service. Smartson may also process personal data that you have submitted pursuant to express consent in order – for example – to make selections when people apply for inclusion in an activity, to be able to contact you in the case of support matters, and to be able to transfer your personal data to a third party such as a distribution partner so that we can supply products to you.

This consent also means that Smartson may use your profile to build up relevant interest groups for marketing purposes, and to communicate with you in social networks where your personal data is used to interact with functions in third party social networks. You can find out more about the functions and what profile data we may obtain about you, and what to do to avoid submission of data, by reading through the privacy policy for the social network in question.

As before, you have the right to decline our newsletters and other information from us. You have the right to object to the cases where we base our processing on a balance of interests. You also have the right to withdraw consent, and you have the right to what is known as data portability, as well as the right – in certain cases – to have your data deleted.

We will process your personal data for as long as necessary with respect to the purpose of the processing. This means that different items of data will be saved for different lengths of time. We will save some of your personal data for as long as you subscribe to our services. If there are legal requirements to save data for a longer period, we will comply with such laws. The Swedish Bookkeeping Act is one example of legislation indicating that data must be saved for a longer period.
